I'm shrinking.
I've just been measured and I've lost an inch and a half in height ::eek:
I had wondered what was up because suddenly fingertip stretch to get something from a shelf just didn't work any more.
Felt like a bairn trying to reach the tap again.

I'm not even that old, so this is a bit of a blight.
I know I've lost weight, needed, and I've done it really slowly, but I'm down 23kgs since this time last year.
Hadn't expected it to come off my height though.

Did anyone else notice ? well, the boys commented that I was small....and when you're only 5'2 and 5/8th" tall, an inch an a half shrinkage is sort of noticeable I suppose.
I'm officially 5'1" now.

Spine stretching exercises will commence.....

That's a lot in one year, regardless of age. I would suggest a dedicated consultation to double check and assess the reasons. People usually do not really shrink (much), but they stand less upright.
Unless you have a disc issue.

Madame was 4'11'' when I met her 63 years ago. We did think she may have lost a bit of height over the years but, following a fall while scrambling in the Pyrenees when she was about the age you probably are now, the medics found that she was suffering from osteoporosis. She has been on treatment ever since and no further bone loss has occurred . Might be worth checking out.

Thank you for the comments, and I will pay heed.
That said, the last time I had my lower back x-rayed the Radiologist commented that I showed absolutely no signs of the expected osteoporosis that was common at my age. ( Damaged lower back, which I take care with and have no problems beyond that now)

I don't know. I will go and ask though.

The weight loss is deliberate. It's slow, slow, slow, but it's steady. I just say I've had enough, and stop eating any more.
I have dieted and lost great amounts of weight before and it always, always goes back on and more. I am too old to be bothered yo-yo ing any more. I am a bitch on a diet, and I'm not putting me or my family through that ever again.
I just say, "enough", and go and do something else.

My diet's healthy, just rather too much of it.

Doc on BcUK said it years ago, "Eat a little less, move a little more", and that's apparently now considered to be fat shamingly unhelpful and patronising....well, it works :)

Ah, I did yoga, and enjoyed it, but the physiotherapist at the Rheumatology Dept., told me not to do it. It's the hold and breathe into it bit, it stresses damaged joints.
Exercise is good, but it's more the resistance ones rather than the yoga ones that are considered safe. I just make sure that I move every joint to it's fullest, without hurting it, every single day, and I'm still flexible.

I know I still do my ballet stretches and I manage them fine, and I'm running up stairs again, but still can't walk all that far without being in real pain.

Yes, we are are different in the ways our bodies complexify with ageing. I can't take the weight through my wrists with my hands flat on the floor now. Have to go up onto knuckles for that. Well, for now.

You didn't drive through a strange mist, did you?
If so, best leave an assortment of pins and breadcrumbs on the floor at easily accessible locations. Do you have a basement? Or a cat?

Well, not right now.....though I am going to shift some this weekend. Not the big 3 x 2's thankfully :)

I used to be so strong, just a wee powerhouse, I hate feeling weak :shame:
