Lights, decent working under lights.

All of the cold white LED bulbs you have could be putting out a similar tone to that lamp, if you wanted them to.

We changed all of the main house lights to LED ones years ago. On the whole, I am very pleased with them.
Himself said that I could get any 'shade' I liked, but I kind of went for a homogenous whole throughout.
Only my desk lamps are different, and this warm white is very pleasant.
J. said that the new bulbs can be adjusted, but I think I'd just start afresh if I did decide to change. The older fittings are now at least two or three years pre-lockdown so they don't owe us anything. I'll leave it until things start to fail and then just do a major change out again.

You can buy E14 smart bulbs.

I cannot stand cold white LEDs. Warm white LEDs are usually marketed at 2700k and provide a similar tone of light to an incandescent bulb.

2700k is my preference for domestic lighting, but I am have 4000k in the kitchen and bathroom and although it takes a little getting used to at first, it doesn't strike me as out of place.

I do all my reading by a halogen lamp, but that's moreso what I could find; buying a lamp that's not ugly has been a difficult task on my "I'm not paying more than £25" criteria.

I just dislike it. I don't even own a cool white torch. It's a preference, some people much prefer cooler lights and most sunlight is cooler than my preference for bulbs - although our eyes perceive light in such a strange way I think it is difficult to make direct comparisons.

I typically run my computer screens and phone on night shift to get rid of the blue, I guess I am just particularly sensitive to it.

Have you seen the Philips dimmable bulbs that decrease their colour temperature as you reduce their intensity? My mate has them in his living room lamps and swears by them, it's not something I'd heard of before.

The bulb we ended up with for my anglepoise lamp is a dimmable one. Tbh it's a function I need in that light, but I tried it in the lamp in the living room and it's rather nice there.

I ordered a bunch of these and distributed them about the house. Kept the app on just one phone, though.

You can dim them, change colour (purple, green, red etc) or temperature. Voice activated if you like. I suspect here are better ones looking at the prices, but I am perfectly happy with them

Voice activated / smart lights are something I liked the idea of but the practice was just irritating for me. If it could be both smart activation and switch then I would be ok with it - it just needs more structure putting in place than just the lightbulb. I have a lamp in the lounge that’s smart but if i want to manually turn it on, I can’t. It just irritates.

The light we used most in the van was a Sofirn BLF LT1 lantern. It has two sets of LEDs in it, warm and cool, so can be manually adjusted for brightness and tint. Whiter is great to actually see stuff, like getting a splinter out, whereas the warmer tints are much more comfortable for sitting with a book and general soft lighting.

I bought a set like that at Costco. They were okay but I quickly gave up on the app and just used the light switch. I may give them a go again at some point.

With these Lempro ones you can set the colour on the app and then just turn it on and off from the wall.

I think the desire to change the colour of the light only arises from boredom. So, you are probably on your phone already.

I don't know if the apps differ greatly but, for these ones, there is a menu of the bulbs you have installed (have to be turned on to adjust them) and you name them for ease of identification. I did occur to me that I might put the app onto the phone I run Tidal from, since I am always fiddling about with that one.

I reckon you should publish your app password on here and let us adjust your lighting. We could each have an assigned day. 🤗

Depends on the job.
I put a 45W LED monster in the laundry room ceiling, it's a little like outdoor noon in the sun.

The diffuse LED are so economical for common room lights. Something that we encounter here with the very short days around the solstice.
The aimed or focused LED are wonderful when I'm trying to do some little task on the table.

For wood carving, a light mounted in front of me is useless = the wood piece makes a deep shadow and I'm carving in that shadow.
So I rigged up a fixture on a bench behind me for the light that shines over my shoulder on the work piece. Side lighting is great to produce really sharp shadows so I can see the tool marks that need to be kissed off an otherwise smooth surface.

I can tell that I'm getting older and I appreciate brighter lights. I'm moving up from 9W to 14W!
