Successful rebranding are few and far between. It is a perilous exercise -the bigger (the more well known) the company/product, the greater the peril.

Very often it is a futile attempt at eradicating/erasing some sort of negativity associated with the brand. It is known then in marketing as « shifting deckchairs on the Titanic »

We're on holiday again (did I say?), a caravan in Poole, about two miles from where I work. We've brought both cars so I can immediately go to work on Monday but I've come down with a stinking cold so I might have to commute to my house to work from home. I've done in a full box of tissues already, now I'm shredding my nose with budget toilet paper.

There's next to no signal here, last night we watched a couple of films on the laptop, I had the Sophie Turner film where she's in a plane crash, half way through Laura tells me this isn't the story she was expecting. Seems Sophie Turner has been in two plane crash films, good way to beat the Sansa Stark typecast I guess?

After a gruelling week, I planned to sleep in this morning til at least 11.00. But of course I woke and sat bolt upright at 5.30. So, went for a long and pleasant, early riverside hike. I was treated to the sight a of a large eagle keeping me company for a stretch, and then watched it flap furiously against the wind trying to keep station above the river, until it dropped like a stone. I didn't see it after that so guess it caught something. Good fishing in that part.

Today I have decided I should give up on my Landrover and buy a more reliable pile of rust. It has been in a garage for 7 weeks as it was suffering from a fuel supply problem and needed a bit of welding on the chassis. In theory they were taking it for an MOT but it broke down en route.. I managed to keep it running for 8 years but gave it to real mechanics as I'm reaching the stage when I dont have the energy to bother anymore. The twats were at a loss to what the fuel problem was, I told them that they needed to replace the MAF and crank sensor and itbwould solve the problem for less than £100. Fucking morons.
How did you know that? they said.
Same as every problem I've ever had with it. I fuckin googled common TD5 problems
I'm about to buy a nissan X trail with full service history with 2 owners from new for 3k..

Really hoping the building switch over from heat to cool soon. It has been warm enough for ages. The last three times they've switched over there has been a gap between switching off the one service and switching on the other, but not this time.

The way the system works means my apartment has two heat exchangers which are permanently fed (hot in the winter, cold in the summer, potentially off in the shoulder seasons) and the 'control' I have is whether or not the fan is running, and if it is how fast it is.

Shutting the system down in the shoulder seasons makes sense - it must reduce the cost to the building, it also means the fabric of the building isn't being cooled or warmed when it doesn't need to be, and it means in the spring I could run the fans to move the air around.

Plodded off to the local branch surgery in the village for fasting bloods at half eight this morning. On arrival was grunted at and through a mouthful of sausage roll told to take a seat by a morbidly fat receptionist who clearly begrudged me disturbing her platter of sausage rolls, crumbs and greasy tissues spread out over the desk. Got seen and the nurse asked me if I’d fasted, so I told her I had and so should the receptionist who’d put me off food for the rest of the day. Short of a pint of bitter on the desk and her smoking a fag I can’t really imagine a worse advert for health promotion in the NHS.

Got back as Herself was heading out to annoy her coworkers for the day instead of harassing me. Despite already being late as usual, she stopped to remind me I had to wait in for some cash in hand “electrician” who’s coming at some unspecified time to fit an outdoor socket to the front of the house so we can hook up the van on the drive. Also needlessly reminded me that it’s a sunny day and going to piss down for the rest of the week, so perhaps I could pressure wash the front patio and drive as I wouldn’t be going out. I fully accept that the guy who’s fitting the socket will be a cowboy, but unless he’s a complete fucking retard I can’t see “Sparky” taking kindly to me spraying water around and over him.

Barely 10am and the day is shaping up a treat..

And as an update, her car has failed its MoT. Now this clearly shouldn’t be a problem for me, but it seems I should have seen the tyres were badly worn and that the indicator doesn’t work on a car I never drive.

Amazon however have clearly been following my plight today and come up trumps as I’ve just received a notification from them suggesting I might like to buy a 16oz claw hammer…. :ninja:

Drooling over Fluke multimeters on the web. Looked at the prices and stopped drooling. Went onto AliExpress and found them at altogether better prices, and I believe that they are genuine from previous personal experience. Started drooling again.

Always handy to know. I had one years ago that died and I have always fancied a replacement one.

Fluke Chinese meters are genuine and just as good quality as RoW ones. The models are slightly different and markedly cheaper, that's about all. I've had one for a few years myself.

I was in B&M yesterday, it's reasonably near the house but further than I'd want to walk; just as well as I ended up with a basket full of heavy stuff. That photo is taken from the mezzanine floor that covers half the store, so it's pretty much three times as large as shown.

The only cleaning sprays I use are bleach spray and Elbow Grease, Asda seems to never have either in stock so we were always in deficit. I bought ten bleach sprays online a year ago and we've used seven so far, I looked at Elbow Grease and B&M were cheapest so I took the kids for a mooch about. Litre bottles of the stuff for £2 a piece, if you've never used it it actually works like in the adverts; I used it to clean a greasy cooker hood and was amazed at how well it worked and it's been my go-to since.

Anyway, I also got some cans of Tennent's, four pint cans of Carlsberg Export for £4, weirdo crisps and chocolate bars, the shower gel I use which I was on the brink of running out of, and some fruity ciders and cans of fiery ginger beer. A good haul I'd say, and it entertained the kids for a bit. I really wanted more plastic storage crates, we have them in a few places in the house but capitalism for some reason won't let you buy the same one two years running, harrumph.

Yesterday - ending up walking all the way from St Pancras to Blackfriars, via jobs at UCL and New Street Square, lugging my test kit and a rucksack full of water samples, due to the buses all being cancelled because of a Gaza protest.
I can think of worse reasons for protesting, but it was a long walk with a 15kg case plus the rucksack.
Today, I ache...

Tell us about the water samples!
Domestic water from a building which has been empty for 2 years - testing for Legionella, coliforms, E. coli, Pseudomonas and total bacteria count, prior to handover.
Building was apparently the home and workplace of the Potter family, flutemakers, from the late 18th century to mid-19th.

Funnily enough I decided against the import from China due to import duties, VAT and handling charge. Price started at £204. They are the real thing. I got a Fluke VoltStick thing from there.

There is a company called Testermans in the UK and I have just ordered a Fluke T6-1000 Pro there for £246 + free p&p. Once that has arrived next week I will be able to sell the Fluke 113, which I have probably used half a dozen times.
