Bother 2 emailed me last night.
He said, ".....been raking through the building site/study looking for books and came across a copy of one sheet of a set of plans for a 7 1/4" gauge loco "Jessie" by Ken Swan, I asked for this copy when I deposited the drawings with you about 30 years ago, just wondered if you still have the rest of them and if so are they still viable or fit to be copied. These things are shamelessly designed to fade, even my copy is fading! But if you still have them I'd like to find a way of having them copied in a manner or medium that preserved them, I don't fancy building anything this size but it's a very nice locomotive and it would scale down to 3 1/2" gauge with ease, anyway just thought I'd ask. "
So, I said to Himself this morning, and he replied that he knew where they were  and up the loft he went and in the carnage 40+ years of 'stuff', he pulled out the aforementioned drawings, and yes, they are fit to be read/copied.

There are four looms, three spinning wheels, a couple of brewing barrels, nearly 20 years of kids toys, an amazing amount of just 'stuff'.

It is beyond time we cleared the loft, it really, really is.

There's a 3' cube of lego, another of duplo, two full of Action Force stuff, from helicopters to jet boats.....there's all the old Fisher Price stuff, the Robotix, the Meccano, the Tonka stuff, the RC planes, boats and cars, there are even Mamod models up there. A traction engine and can't mind what the other one is, might be the lorry, but there's also one of the old 'factory' ones with wee machinery driven by an overhead belt.

Old clocks, barometers, ggg granny's china  computers from the year dot, there's a Kim-1 up there somewhere, and everything from there onwards.
Three dinner services, eight tea sets, glassware, etc., for a party of 3dozen.....and it goes on and on.

I have three crate loads of stuff for Son2 if he ever moves out. From pots and pans, baking trays and tins, to china, glassware, cutlery, mugs, etc.,

I dread the thought of a flitting, and I've told the boys that if we croak it to take only what they want and will use then phone the Salvation Army to come and clear the rest.

I sold my own action force a few years for a good bulk price. It was snapped up and I imagine that there was something in there that was high value. I was happy with the value and to be rid with little bother if splitting it up.

Bother 2 and his 'mukka' (sp ?) came home on leave. There they were, the British army's finest, and they were outraged, infuriated, jealous.....small nephews wee Action Force sodjers had the new guns before they did !!!

:D

Honestly, my two wee boys got an education in practical warfare before they were even out of primary school.
The only time I ranted was when they started blowing up the sand pit, and Son2 watched carefully, and knowing him took it all in and minded to use later, but Son1 told them how they'd done it and suggested improvements.

Local newspaper used to do a swap column on a Saturday. I remember swapping all my lego and a mamod steam engine for my first air rifle. My dad checked it over and said it was fine. It was a relum telly, biggest load of Russian shite ever. Worst decision of my life.

My dad bought me my first sheath knife in a genuine Italian knife shop. Carbon blade, thick stubby antler handle with a ball pommel. A thing of craftsmanship and beauty. I remember taking it to school, as you did in those days, and showing it off. The next day a mate brought in a very cool coffin handled Bowie, and we swapped. Regretted it ever since, it was like giving away part of my right of passage.
