My husband asked for, and was reluctantly given, early retirement when Strathclyde was broken up. The difference in our stress levels within just a few weeks was a revelation. You're not really aware of background stress while you're busy living. When it stops though, then it's really, really obvious.
He retired over twenty years ago, and we have never ever regretted it.

We are pretty relaxed about swearing on here, but the w*** word puts you on very thin ice mate.

Some of us are regular w****rs; we just have to (unless one's lucky enough to have a wife or partner who can give a hand or take the load.)

We get up in the morning and have to w**k.

We w**k all day, often being told we need to w**k harder or faster, with hardly a break, and a pathetic packet to show for it.

I tell you, sometimes, by the end of the day, I've w**ked so hard I fall into bed, too tired even to have a quick w**k.

To be serious for a mo, there's more than one bloke I know at work who could afford to quit. Steve lives on his own most of the time and just want something to do and moan about, been to his house and he's always got the telly on because he can't stand the house being quiet.
Seems to be a bloke thing, really.

Being able to be on my own (dog excepted) in silence is something I value highly but only achieve for eight hours a day, four days a week.

Public order bill defeated in the house. Former governor of Hong Kong said Britain would have condemned it if China had tried such a stunt there.
Thank goodness we can still protest without being criminals for holding a placard up.

The Lords only get three goes at booting it out, then the fascist dictators get their way.

I laid in bed very late today. I accidentally retired at the age of 62 last August. I am in a situation of, if I want the employers they dont want me, or if the employers want me I don't want them! I have joined the ranks of the economically inactive, as long as you ignore my What did the Post(ie) bring today posts. I don't regret it for a moment though, but at some stage the cash will run out and I will have to jump through the Job Centre hoops.

On the day we hear reports that Russia is in fact launching a large offensive through Luhansk, we discover that Elon Musk is disabling his StarLink service in Ukraine for the support of drones.

I guess we knew all along what he is. Now we know for a fact. Someone needs to tell him to fuck off again.

Anyone heard about the derailment of a massive train in the USA full of dangerous chemicals , wildlife dropping dead everywhere, and its got into a river, killing everything.
They set it on fire to get rid of the cancer causing chemicals, and this has all now gone into the atmosphere. Happened Feb 3rd, and it's now only just started to be talked about. Worst ecco disaster in the USA. They tried to hush it up, even arresting a reporter.
Its got massive consequences.
Apparently shooting down balloons were more important. Misdirection and cover-up spring to mind.

Yep, that's the one.
Full of so many dangerous chemicals that if the whole shipment had exploded it would have been chenobyle 2.
Lots more behind the it. Rail workers had been on strike due to dangerous working conditions, and predicted this. Someone's up to their necks in mire!
These are cancer causing agents, now in the water, ground and air, and spreading.
Great effort to hush it up, and even local press and radio/TV didn't report it at the time, real details only just coming out 10 days later....too late to warn many locals about the danger.

You are such a cheery soul.

Mate, you can keep your head in the sand and ignore everything if you want, but I like to know what's going on around the world. Good and bad.
Trouble is, not much good is about recently, and this is a massive thing as it is poisoning a huge part of the environment, and potential to affect 10% of the US, drinking water for millions of humans and animals over a huge area. Including farming land, and animals, which people eat.
It's huge, but everyone is ignoring it... Well, it's being hushed up realy. Ignorance is bliss eh?
(I don't mean you are ignorant by the way, just in case it sounded like that.)
