Following on from a brief discussion elsewhere on here, I'm happy to organise a group buy of Palestinian made kufiya. This isn't so much about getting us a cheap discount as much as supporting a small Palestinian business in terrible times.

Perhaps the best way to proceed is for anyone interested to indicate what pattern they're interested in and if there are enough of us I'll get them ordered and shipped to me and I'll cover the onward post in the UK.

If anyone feels they'd like to chuck in a few bob extra then I'll talk to the company and see how to donate and add it to the total.

Royal and Tabariya.

As you said though Kev, 3 of us have already ordered so I won’t be bothered if we end up dumping the idea.

By my calculations (rough), ordering one for yourself will cost about 33 Euro and with an order of eight as it stands at present then we'd divide up the 19 Euros between us, which brings it down to around 28 Euro. This doesn't include postage from me to everyone, which I'd be happy to cover, but for a saving of £4.50 I can't but wonder whether folks would do as well to order their own, especially if as I suspect, Hirbawi make a small income from each shipping charge as well.

Thoughts?

I'm happy either way. :)

Mine cost me €35 or £31.57 with tracked postage.

Just looked at my receipt and it was 33 Euro. I used the cheapskate shipping option, so perhaps the saving goes up to around £6 with A GB of 5+
As I said, I'm easy but hope that we're not eating into a meagre profit they perhaps make on shipping individually as opposed to the 5+ option.

I like the trad blue one - the white ones have a certain elan, too ... Either way, I will order it from Canada.

I’m happy to make my own order, GBs used to work on a price reduction for large orders, and that’s pretty much exactly what we’re trying to avoid here, the more they get from us the better.

I was pretty impressed that serial impulse buyer @Templogin was able to sit on his hands for 24hrs before purchasing to be honest.

I think the original idea we had last night was well intentioned but perhaps not thoroughly thought through. Story of my life really! :D
Might be good to post up pics here of what we buy individually perhaps.

Got their newsletter this morning. They appear to be a reasonable bunch of folk with no obvious leanings towards the Hamas bastards.

"
As we go about our daily lives, it's crucial to pause and consider the escalating crisis in Gaza and the broader region.

The Israeli government's threatening rhetoric, including comments from Prime Minister Netanyahu about turning Gaza "into a deserted island," raises significant concerns. These are not merely words but a chilling portent for the people who live there.

In this environment, it's heartbreaking to think that the Israeli military, one of the most technologically advanced in the world, directs its might not solely at armed militants but also at vulnerable civilians.

These aren't just statistics or casualties of war; they are fathers who may never again hear their daughters' laughter, mothers who may never see their sons take their first bike ride, and young people with dreams of changing the world. Each one deserves more than a life of mere survival; they deserve a life filled with dignity, love, and opportunity.

It's essential to highlight that at the core of this ongoing conflict is a system of apartheid that perpetuates inequality, violence, and the violation of human rights.

We at Hirbawi stand firmly in the belief that every individual—regardless of religion or ethnicity—deserves equal treatment. This foundational principle of equality has the power to dismantle the walls of racism and apartheid that have been erected over decades in Palestine.

For a just and lasting peace, this fundamental truth must be acknowledged and acted upon by all parties involved, including Israelis, Palestinians, and the international community. Until we reach this critical understanding, the people of Palestine continue to need your emotional and material support.

Keep the Palestinian plight at the forefront of your thoughts, your discussions, and your actions. Let's hold onto hope—the hope that one day humanity will awaken to the truth, ending all forms of apartheid and finally granting equal rights to everyone in historical Palestine.

Only then can we make meaningful strides toward peace, freedom, and justice for all.
