I find I really like the proportional representation bit in Scottish politics. It feels fair.
I might not agree with some folks political leanings but they have a right to representation, and at least this way they have that.
I think it helps keep things more balanced somehow.

Yeah, PR is fairer but I do think that anyone elected "on the list" should be able to serve only one term. It's a joke when the Tory leader didn't even stand for election because he had no chance of winning but got in on the list anyway.

I blow hot and cold on PR, but mainly cold. If everyone in the country wants to vote for a bunch of bigots, there isn't much to be done about that. But, if only few want to vote for them, I don't see why the rest of us should have to put up with their poison in public discourse. PR is, after all, why Italy's politics is dominated by overt fascists when the preponderance of Italians vote left and left of centre.

On the other hand, of course, with PR other, issues-based minorities do get a chance of being represented and taking part in coalitions, however fleeting, inept and toothless, or however bullying one partner might be toward another.

I think there's PR and there's PR.

I like that even though I don't agree with them that Conservatives have seats in our parliament...of the 59 Scottish MPs at Westminster, 43 of them are SNP.
SNP did not get that high percentage of the votes, but first past the post damns the rest.

I so agree.
That is an enormous injustice......but the imposition of Alastair Jack as the Scottish Secretary is appalling.

Is it, like Labour, The Conservatives in Scotland, rather than the Scottish Conservatives, too?

They're both controlled from London so identical in that respect but "Scottish" Labour specifically are listed as an accounting unit of the Labour Party in London. Scottish Labour does not exist as a separate entity.

On spin: the tory story out there is that although Labour did well, there wasn't the expected seismic event. I hope that is for real as a read. What buggered Johnson (among a few other things) was his massive majority and the impossibility of managing it's naturally increasing waywardness.

Mind, I suspect (pacé Farage) the confused affiliates of Gorgeous George are planning to sow sorrow and despond in the Starmer camp already.

If you believe Tory Xitter the London exodus is in full swing, people are deserting the city in droves because they just can't face another 5 years of Sadiq Khan. Not sure who it was voted for him if that's the case lol.
They'll be back once they realise public transport, the NHS and all the other shit dont extend as far as their 2nd homes
