Fuck that shit. Its properly wank stuff to use.

For electronics, yeah, abysmal unless it's going in a wave soldering machine.

For plumbing you can still use lead on the likes of a central heating loop but I decided just to go lead free and get used to it, when it's going under a blowtorch it really isn't that bad.

I received a copy of Jude The Obscure today, I've never read Hardy but he's one of those authors I feel I should? Seems the novel was known as Jude The Obscene when it was released, somewhat about a bloke that can't decide between a nice posh bird and a bit of filth. There are worse dilemmas to have.

We have a death ray (xray gun) at work
:zap:

used to check for lead in circuit boards coming from china.
Boards need to be soldered/desoldered under an extractor and soldering iron tips swapped regularly in case they contaminate other boards.

Unleaded solder is a pita. I have a 500g reel of leaded stuff in the house for any soldering efforts I need to undertake.

I love the smell of leaded solder in the morning!
does that make me stupid?

Well, not the post, but Amazon. A five litre container of Turtlewax. I thought I was buying one litre to replace the litre bottle I've had for five years and finished yesterday when I gave the campervan a wash before its MOT today. Given how infrequently I wash the campervan, at one capful to a bucket as per directions, my boys will inherit enough to pass on to the grandchildren in the unlikely event that they will be able to afford to run a car after they have paid their student loans. That'll teach me to take a quick look at Madame's phone and say. "Yes, that'll do", when I asked her to add it to the order she was compiling. She wasn't sympathetic; just suggested I go housing estate bourgeois and wash the car every Sunday whether it needs it or not.

1) it’s Amazon: just return it.
2) your grandchildren will run a car long before they even qualify to repay their loan. And if (when) they do the repayment will not make a big dent on their budget

Not in the post but a refund from Amazon for a Ryobi tool bag they say I returned. The thing is I didn't. I use parcel tracking software, which is clever enough to convert the Amazon number into the RM tracking number. This time it didn't so I copied the RM number from the Amazon site and set up a new entry in my tracking software. The resulting message was that either the number was wrong or it had not been passed onto the courier. The bag was due on Tuesday, but I got a message then from Amazon saying that it would be delivered today (Thursday). First thing this morning another message from Amazon to thank me for the return and to tell me that my bank account would be credited in 3-5 days for the cost of the bag. Oddly they also gave me the credit today.

I have just looked at another Ryobi item coming from Amazon and the tracking is not working on that either. This is a multi tool, but there is no battery, which is something that can cause problems with RM, so WTF is going on I really don't know.

Leatherman warranty replacement, a Wave+

I'd say it was less than two weeks all in? It's largely the same knife with a few tweaks, the main change is the replaceable wire cutter insets. It's pretty bloody stiff though, needs a good bit of pocket time to loosen up I reckon.

Two stainless coffee filters for my AeroPress arrived today to replace the two I put in a bonfire with other packaging and were never seen again. :shame:
Almost did the same with a memory card. I fished the packaging out of the bin some days later and there it was. Of course it is always possible that we both have brain damage!
