Hmm yes it is nice isn't it? I'm using the 600 3 in 1 today, which is a perfectly practical thing.

If I hadn't just bought another socket set that I didn't really need I'd be tempted to buy another couple of pens that I don't really need.

A pristine Barbour waxed cotton shoulder bag from someone on BCUK. I've been lusting for one of the waxed cotton Retriever range but they are like hen's teeth, so this Tarras one will fit the bill and it matches my Fjallraven backpacks - Yeah, I know :shame:

A new pair of running shoes. Managed to get them for £63 since they are the last of the old style.

New runners for me too! VFF KSOs to replace my 12 year old pair.

I thought that as some toes were starting to poke out of the old pair, it was probably time to treat myself…

I’m hoping they’re as good!

I’ll admit that I’ve been putting off buying a new pair as they’re about £100 and I didn’t want to spend it but when I realised how long they had lasted, it seems reasonable!

Good for nipping in and out of the garden, but only that. We have several pairs outside the front and back door for grabbing handfuls of herbs pr.

I like those foot gloves, however I also like those shoes with no heels. I can't remember the make, but I researched them when they were on clearance on Sport Pursuit. Apparently it takes about 2 years to get used to them though - eek!

I have also reached that age when Crocs have become a possible. I notice that a lot of long distance touring cyclists wear them so they must be good.

Xero?
They are good and don’t take that long to get used to. You need to wear them during the day, and the first few days you can tell your calves are working more. Likewise you learn to change your stride, reducing it so you can land on the front of the foot rather than the heel. In this respect running is a little easier because that stride is more natural to sprinting if you remember those distant times when we did Track & Fields…

Naah, no way it takes two years every time.

I got used to them really quickly, only running was the hard bit on my calves.

Quite a few brands out there now - vivobarefoot, merrell have some, freet, xero, lems.

I’m in minimalist shoes all the time.

It helps cure flat foot too as well as being better for your back.

I'm little-ish. I've worn high heels since I was seventeen...until I hurt my back.

Ye Gods but it took years to get used to 'sensible' shoes  Mostly I wear ballet flats now.
I miss that extra three or four inches of height though.

Rationally heels on shoes are stupid. They cause so much muscle, tendon and bone damage that it's almost up there with Chinese foot binding.
Fashion, social pressure (try being a woman in business suits and finding shoes that look right but you can wear all day) peer pressure, etc., and there's a recipe for virtually every woman my age and older having sore feet. Even the Queen and Michelle Obama commiserated with each other on that one.

So, sensibly, flat shoes, shoes made to support and yet let your foot flex; those are good things :)
I still miss my pretty shoes though.
