I have been away for a few days so there was post for me when I arrived back home:

Private Eye
1Kg of coffee beans
1Kg of organic figs
Kent shaving soap
Book - Decline and Fall by Evelyn Waugh

I also came home to 4 new Rointe radiators installed and a towel rail. I have been without the latter for 14 years so it is a real treat. The rads had all been set to 19 degrees C the day before. Arriving home today the temperature in the house was 25.7 degrees C. I had to turn off all the rads and open the windows and leave the front toor open. We are now down to a balmy 17.8 degrees C.

Those look useful. Can I ask where you bought them please?

He said that about my stiletto heeled, lace up boots, all those years ago :)
I couldn't walk in stilettos now.
Last time I did I wore them to a party, walked in said to everyone that right they'd seen my shoes, but they were coming off and walked around in my stockings (and little black dress !) instead.
The things women do for fashion or to look pretty....stupid really.

The irony is just being a woman is enough.

Did anyone buy a pair of the Dutch surplus sunglasses off eBay a few years ago and doesn’t wear them? I have a pair but I left them in a friends car in BC, eventually I’ll get them back but would love another pair if anyone wants to sell them.

They were quite popular on BB, I think.

Could be yeah, I don’t remember which size mine are. They came in at least 2 sizes.

Phone a friend

I think these are the larger of the two sizes which makes them quite reasonably priced. Mine were the smaller size.

Found a pair on eBay in Canada which had failed to sell at auction for $20 then relisted as a BIN for $45. Offered him $20 and he took it.

They’re fantastic sunglasses. You have to spend proper money with Luxotica to get this kind if quality now.

They make everyone else's frames ... maybe not Moscot, but most high end US brands have them cited as mfrs. Bit like Giant and bikes.

They own Sunglass hut and all the brands sold there. The big sunglass brands they own are Oakley, Ray-Ban and Persol. They probably produce for others.

I have sunglasses from all of those and rate the Dutch surplus ones. They used to be easy to buy but I guess supplies are running down.

This all started because I was looking for my American Optical aviators thinking I might sell them. Instead I have bought a pair of sunglasses I already own.

I need have a clear out of junk I am never going to do anything with.

Thermostat is off/not working?

Each rad has its own thermostat. I am not going to worry though. They are all off except for the one in the kitchen, where I spend most of my time. That is set to 7 degrees C so shouldn't come on. It's down to 12.7 in the house so much more comfortable now. The towel rail will only go on when I need it.

I also looked at the thermostat on the tank after it produced water almost hot enough to strip the skin off when I went for my bath this morning. I turned the boost element down to half way, it was on max originally. When I looked at the main element it was set to ECO, so who knows what is happening there? It was good to have hot water at mains pressure.

A thinkware dashcam as the plague of cyclists here must have lemming genes. They keep trying to throw themselves under things, which I have no problems with, but I’ve no intention of being on of the things!
